Below is a basic summary of the steps needed to transfer, and who to contact for support.
STEP 1: Apply to ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï and attend orientation.Â
Applying is free and easy! To review the admission requirements for transfer students, visit the Transfer Student site.
! Once accepted, you will need to attend Transfer Orientation to register for classes.
STEP 2: Submit your transcripts.
After you apply, you will need to send official transcripts from all previous schools attended. Visit the Send It! site for details. You will receive an official evaluation of your transfer credits upon admission to ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï and submission of transcripts.
STEP 3: Review your unofficial transcripts with a Social Work advisor.
The BSSW program is unique in that all students originally start at ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï as pre-social work students and must officially apply and be accepted to the BSSW program upon completion of pre-requisite coursework. To ensure you’re on track to apply to the BSSW program, contact the Social Work Student Services team for a tentative transcript review.
STEP 4: Apply to the BSSW Program.
Once you have been accepted to ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï, and you have completed or are registered to complete your final pre-requisites for admission to the BSSW program, complete the BSSW program application. For more details, review the BSSW Admissions guide.
STEP 5: Next steps as a newly admitted student.
Once you are admitted to ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï, there are several next steps you’ll take to get your account set up, register for classes, and apply for financial aid. Find all the resources you need on the Transfer Student site.

The Adult Learner and Transfer Student Success team at ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï is a great resource for application support, but also once you’re an ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï student. The Transfer Student Success team offers Transfer Student Peer mentoring support, and are a great one-stop resource if you’re unsure where else to go.
Whether you transferred 60 credits or 3 credits, it is important to review your previous transcripts to ensure all eligible credits have been transferred.

We always recommend double checking with an advisor before you elect to take a class at another institution to transfer back to ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï. And, we encourage students to be in control of their own degree.
If you want to make sure a course will transfer back to ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï, use . If the course you wanted to take doesn’t show up, that may mean the course won’t transfer and you should definitely seek guidance from your Social Work advisor or the Registrar’s office transfer credit team.

As a transfer student you may have completed a lot of transferable credit without having earned a degree, or have already completed an associate’s degree or higher before coming to ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï. Either way is correct, and your Social Work advisor will work with you to create a degree plan that maximizes your transfer credit.

The Behavioral Health Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Mental Health & Social Work is a direct to work pathway for behavioral health careers. Learn more about the .
This is a great degree option, however, if you plan to transfer to the BSSW program at ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï, you may not have all of the pre-social work requirements and general studies completed by the time you transfer to ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï. This will prolong your time to degree by a minimum of 1 semester.
BSSW transfer students who have completed the Behavioral Health Assistant I certificate from a Colorado Community College can use the certificate in place of one required social work elective. Learn more about certificates.
Red Rocks Community College and ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï have a partnership agreement that ensures you will be on track for the BSSW program when you transfer to ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï.
Transferring in Social Work Courses
Incoming students who have taken social work courses at another college or university may have the coursework reviewed to apply to fulfill BSSW Program requirements.
To be considered, the courses must have been completed within a social work program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). To have your courses reviewed for transferability, please email [email protected] with the names of the course(s) you want reviewed and a full syllabus for each course to be reviewed.
