The Social Work Minor is designed for students interested in augmenting their major with social work courses. Graduates with a social work minor are not considered social workers. However, employers may value the minor, particularly if the student is pursuing a career in a helping field

Social Work Minor Required Courses
These courses must be completed with a grade of “C-” or better
- SWK 1010听– Introduction to Social Work (3 credits)

- SWK 1600 – Community Engagement and Civic Responsibility (3 credits) *

- SWK 3120听– Privilege, Oppression and Power (3 credits)

- SWK 3410听– Generalist Practice I (3 credits)

* Requires approximately 2 hours/week (fall or spring) of volunteer work for a total of 30 hours/semester (4 hours/week if taken in summer)
