Metropolitan State University of Denver, in partnership with the University of Denver, hosted a timely panel discussion examining the U.S.-Iran conflict on April 23, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. This expert-led conversation explored the geopolitical, military and economic dimensions of the conflict and what these developments could mean for global stability.
Held in person in the King Center Concert Hall and live-streamed, the event provided context and analysis to help make sense of a complex and rapidly evolving situation.
Janine Davidson, Ph.D.
President, Metropolitan State University of Denver; former undersecretary, U.S. Navy
A national thought leader in higher education, public service and national security, Davidson previously served in senior roles at the U.S. Department of Defense and is a recognized expert in U.S. foreign policy.
Frederick Fritz Mayer, Ph.D.
Dean, Josef Korbel School of International Studies, University of Denver
An expert in international political economy and globalization, Mayer leads one of the nations top schools of global affairs and focuses on the intersection of politics, markets and global change.
David Kilcullen, Ph.D.
Professor of War Studies, University of New South Wales; Author, counterinsurgency expert
A globally recognized authority on modern conflict, Kilcullen is a former advisor to U.S. and allied governments and has written extensively on military strategy, insurgency and global security.
Kishore Kulkarni, Ph.D.
Professor of Economics, Metropolitan State University of Denver
An expert in international economics, Kulkarnis research focuses on global trade, development and economic policy, with insight into how geopolitical events shape markets and economic systems.
Alex Boodrookas, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of History, Metropolitan State University of Denver
Boodrookas is a specialist in the history and politics of the Persian Gulf. He studies popular politics, migration, oil, and decolonization, and is the author of Comrades Estranged: Labor and Citizenship in the Twentieth-Century Persian Gulf (Stanford, 2026).
