At 厙ぴ勛圖s College of Business (CBUS), learning doesnt stop at the classroom door. Faculty actively engage with students and professional organizations to connect theory with practice and strengthen pathways into business careers.
That commitment was on display at the 2026 DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Atlanta. Laurel Lane, CBUS faculty member, served as a judge for nationallevel marketing communications competitions, evaluating top high school students as they applied business concepts in realworld scenarios.

Lanes participation builds on her ongoing service with DECA and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) at the local level. At ICDC, she worked directly with student competitors as they delivered presentations, analyzed case challenges, and demonstrated the skills essential for success in todays business environment critical thinking, communication, and professionalism.
Its a fantastic experience, Lane shared. Students value thoughtful feedback, and its rewarding to see how confidently they apply what theyve learned.
The conference also held personal significance for Lane, as her daughter qualified for and competed at the national level, underscoring the powerful, multigenerational impact of programs like DECA.
Faculty engagement in organizations such as DECA and FBLA reflects CBUSs mission to deliver applied, careerrelevant learning. By sharing expertise beyond campus, faculty help students prepare for college and professional success while reinforcing the practical focus that defines a CBUS education.
These programs mirror the experiential learning emphasized at 厙ぴ勛圖, providing participants opportunities to explore business disciplines, develop leadership skills, and gain confidence through competition and collaboration.
Through service, mentorship, and community partnership, CBUS faculty strengthen connections between high school, higher education, and the business community, advancing student success at every stage.
