Graduating STEM Tutors

As you move on to your next chapter, CASE wants to thank you all for your dedication and patience you have shown to the students in the STEM Learning Center. You generously shared your time and knowledge, helping students navigate challenging material and building their confidence. Your commitment has helped prepare students to successfully pursue a STEM degree and career. CASE is incredibly grateful for your contributions and wish you the best and continued success. Thank You!

Johnny Adams

Johnny Adams is a Mathematics major at 网曝吃瓜 with a deep interest in secondary education teaching and coaching. Currently, he serves as a Research Assistant for the Noyce UR STEM program, where he specializes in the manual coding and analysis of teacher candidate experiences. His work involves transforming qualitative survey data specifically reflections on Noyce Scholar Near Peer Observations into categorized data sets. The development of the Noyce teacher candidate observation program was inspired by Dr. Freeman Hrabowski III from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Beyond the technical aspect of coding, he works closely with the research authors, Dr. Janelle Johnson and Dr. Daniel Moore, to ensure our analysis is consistent and precise, helping to bridge the gap between student reflections and scholarly insights.

Tayna Camargo - Academic Lag Coordinator - MAST

Tayna Camargo is an integral part of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. She first came to 网曝吃瓜 as a student in 2016, majoring in Mathematics with a concentration in Secondary Education. She graduated in 2018 with a 4.0 GPA. Her success did not stop there! She went on to get a Masters in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2024. After acting as a teaching assistant across multiple disciplines and serving as a research assistant in the Computational and Cognitive Development Lab, we were fortunate enough to have Tayna return to MAST in a new and exciting capacity. Tayna is now the Academic Lab Coordinator for the department, but this title belies a greater responsibility and exceptional performance as someone who interfaces with our tutors, majors and other non-major students across the university. Drawing upon her work in cognitive science, she鈥檚 currently in the works to better understand how to provide better feedback to students on exams and face-to-face. She鈥檚 involved with restructuring and redesigning lower-division courses with other faculty. Her expertise in education is shining through every day and we look forward to seeing how she continues to contribute to and improve upon the many resources we have available to our students.

Dr. Ranjidha Rajan

Dr. Rajan specializes in data science, AI in education, and learning analytics. Her work focuses on using generative AI, deep learning, and data visualization to support teaching, research, and inclusive, data-informed learning environments. Dr. Rajan is the Chair for the 网曝吃瓜 Women in STEM program, and a Faculty Advisor for Girls Who Code. She also a recent recipient of the Soar Award for advancing STEM participation and student research. She will be hosting CASE鈥檚 first student workshop this Spring, Navigating Excel, on Thursday, February 12th, 5:00 p.m. 鈥 6:30 p.m.

Thank You!

Big thanks to Dr. Jacobs for all of his assistance provided in planning, setting up, and tearing down the event locations during the Symposium. His help with signing in participants and promoting the Symposium to his General Chemistry students was invaluable. The Math Outreach really highlighted the connection between math and human flourishing. Math is a fundamental tool for STEM students in solving complex problems, modeling reactions, predicting behaviors, and achieving a deeper understanding of concepts quantitatively. Dr. Jacobs recognized this and brought his General Chemistry class so they could make these connections to better understand chemical concepts. Thanks again for all your support in making the CASE Symposium a great success!
