Important Notice

As of 5pm, Monday May 11th, the Emergency Fund and DREAMer Emergency Fund applications will be closed for Spring Semester. Summer Emergency Fund application links will reopen on the Course Participation Deadline/Census Date for those enrolled in Summer Semester 2026 courses.Ìý

Life happens. The DREAMer Emergency Retention Fund is an emergency stipend for ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï students who are dealing with unanticipated catastrophic life events that might cause the student to stop or pause their educational goals. Funding is limited each semester, and applications will be reviewed as funds last. Once funds are exhausted, additional applications will not be reviewed.Ìý All decisions are final.Ìý

Awards are capped at $1,000. The ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Student Emergency Fund may affect future financial aid award packages for students and may be considered taxable income.Ìý

DREAMer Emergency Fund awardsÌýmay be prioritized for students who have not previously had the opportunity to receive funding. Ìý

Students may be referred to case management to explore alternative financial resources in lieu of or prior to being considered for Emergency Funds.Ìý

We prioritize financial emergencies that threaten basic needs (for example: housing, utilities, etc).Ìý Ìý

Expenses covered include, but are not limited to:Ìý

  • Rent and utilities, in case of emergencyÌý
  • Can cover costs related to one’s immigration case or court hearingÌý
  • Costs related to immigration attorneysÌý
  • DACA renewalsÌý
  • Care for dependentsÌý
  • Personal medical, dental, or mental health emergencies (on a case-by-case basis)Ìý
  • Safety and health-related needsÌý
  • Tuition (excluding fees)Ìý

Expenses not covered include:Ìý

  • University FeesÌý
  • Legal fees (unrelated to immigration status)Ìý
  • Car payments & non-essential transportation expenses (as determined by the Student Emergency Retention Fund Committee)Ìý
  • Outstanding personal debt, including car loan payments, credit card debt, medical debt or unpaid medical bills, or other bills that have been sent to collectionsÌý
  • Student travel/conferenceÌý
  • Non-essential utilities (determined by Student Emergency Retention Fund Committee)Ìý
  • Costs of entertainment, recreation, personal, or non-emergency travel expensesÌý
  • Outstanding personal debt, including credit card debtÌý
