On March 27, Metropolitan State University of Denver announced that it would allow students听a one-time opportunity to convert letter grades to a Pass/Fail notation听蹿辞谤听迟丑别听spring 2020 semester. Below are some frequently asked questions about that process. Stay tuned to this page听for听additional updates as information becomes available.听听

How will this process work?听听

• Professors will grade normally at the end of the term using the ABCDF grade mode. Then, depending on听your听program and grade received, you can decide to choose a听Pass听(P)听or No credit/Fail听(F)听instead.听听
• To take advantage of the P/F notation, a听student must contact their faculty member within seven days of听when听grades post听on May 22.听
• Students should send an听email听to their faculty member听using the 鈥淩equest for Pass/Fail Option鈥�听form, which听is currently being developed. The form听will be available on the Student Hub on the 网曝吃瓜 website prior to听posting听date听and听must be completed and sent before Noon on May 29.听听

Which letter grades听do the听P听and听F notations听cover?听

• For undergraduate students, the P notation will cover every grade from an A to a C-, with the F notation reserved for all D and F grades.听听
• For graduate students, the P notation will cover every grade from an A to a B-, with the F notation covering all C, D and F grades.听听

What听do听I听need to consider听before choosing听a听P or F听notation?听听

• Students should meet with their faculty and/or academic advisors to discuss the pros and cons of this decision, including听the potential implications of having a P notation on听your听transcript听in light of听licensure and graduate school admissions; prerequisites for other courses; transfer to other institutions; and scholarship requirements.听听

• For financial aid purposes and Satisfactory Academic Progress, both P and F notations will impact your completion rate;听Please talk to your听faculty member or听advisor.听听
• P notations elected during the spring 2020 semester will not count toward the maximum allowed in a degree/program/school/college.听

How does a听P/F听notation impact my GPA? Will听they听count as completed credit hours?听听

• A听Pass听notation has no designated GPA and will not count in your overall GPA. A Fail听notation will be calculated into听your GPA as normal. Both the P and the F notations will听impact your completion rate. P notations count as attempted and completed credit hours whereas F notations count as attempted but not completed hours.

Can I change my mind听after I鈥檝e completed the process?听听

• Any decision by a student to take the P/F option will be irrevocable.听

Why did 网曝吃瓜 make this decision?听听

• Because students听have听dealt with a lot of stress and anxiety this semester already. The hope is to ease some of that听anxiety and听to听provide students听with additional flexibility as听they听navigate听their educational path.
