Research Interests

My research focuses on multilingual education, literacy and biliteracy development, teacher education, and family-school-community partnerships, with an emphasis on supporting multilingual students’ academic, linguistic, and social-emotional development. I examine how children develop and draw on literacy knowledge and practices across languages, as well as how educators and schools can build meaningful partnerships with families and communities to support student learning.
An additional strand of my research explores bilingual and dual language education, including the professional experiences, identities, and learning of transnational bilingual educators. My work in teacher education examines how preservice and in-service teachers develop the knowledge, practices, and pedagogical approaches needed to support bilingual learners. I am particularly interested in preparing and supporting educators to implement linguistically responsive, culturally sustaining instruction and strengthen literacy and biliteracy development across educational contexts.
